Well, if nothing else, the incident with Miss Hawthorne seems to have implied that we shouldn't concern ourselves with anything outside of playing the game - there's no understanding any of it and somehow I doubt there's much defeating it, either, particularly not from this side.
Fortunately, if we continue to do as well as we have been - for a given understanding of "doing well" - this will all be over shortly; the hateful thing actually told me how we're expected to win.
